So Old …Moses Signed His Year Book..

Ok check this out.. I have a neighbor behind our house.. I don’t think he likes me too much. I really haven’t figured it out why yet. I think it is mainly because he is pretty much as old as creation itself. Mind you now, I mean no disrespect, but let me tell you what “Old man river” has done..

Ok about 2 years ago.. I took some time off and build the boys a tree house on stilts. It is pretty neat looking it has windows and furniture in it. I also attached a slide and 3 swings to it to give it a more family friendly look. I painted it red and made it look really pretty. I noticed some “wasted” area behind and off to the right of the club house, so I thought I would build a little bon fire pit with benches and stuff. So, the day came when it was completed, I decided that Brady and I would camp out in it and build a small “marsh- mellow roasting” fire. I am serious when I say small, the flame was no bigger then a candle. Any way “Old man river” called the Fire Dept. on me. Then he proceeded to come over with his son (who is about 30ish) and he and his 30ish son insist that the smoke was affecting his daughter’s asthma. Then the 30ish dad preceded TO PUT OUT HIS CIGARETTE!!

Then last week he called the city and informed them that (according to the letter from the city council) that my yard was “UNHEALTHY” and that the “Vegetation” was too long” So we spent last weekend “fixing” the problems. I still notice “Old man river” driving up and down his “road” looking at my yard..

I guess some people are born to be mean.. Anyway to “Old man river” You have a blessed day my friend!!

Completed

Well tonight I completed my 10 week course of the Falmouth Citizen’s Police Academy.
We had some guest speakers and some great food at the graduation ceremony. The two best parts were when they let me say a few words at the beginning and have a moment of silence and prayer for the falling Officers and the families who must go on. and having Cathy there to see me receive this hornor. I concluded with the reading of Ephesians 6:10-12, where Paul talks about the Armor of God and that we are fighting a war not of the flesh but of the spirit.
One thing I heard over and over again was that “The days of Mayberry and Barney are gone.” And as I look around today and watch the news and listen to Brady tell me some things about the schools...
It is so true…. The days of Mayberry are gone…
Thanks to all the fellows of the Falmouth Police Dept. I had a blast... and the rest of the Class of 2007 Citizens Academy.

PS... "Bad Boys Bad Boys What-cha Going To Do, When Lonnie Comes After You"

Betcha Didn’t Know This

Wow I haven’t bloged in a few days.. We had a “lock-in” on Friday night and I was just too tired and “mind-dead” on what to write. So I thought I would write a quick blog for my buddy Mark who says he likes to read these and I’ve been slacking. So I thought I would write some things that people may or may not know about yours truly
So here we go..

Betcha didn’t know that I was a Fireman/EMT when I was 18
Betcha didn’t know that I was in the US Army for 8 years
Betcha didn’t know that I seen the Berlin Wall come down
Betcha didn’t know that I used to work with Nuclear Missiles. (Supplied communication support)
Betcha didn’t know that I worked at McDonalds for 4 hours.
Betcha didn’t know that I traveled all over the world Europe/Spain/France and married a girl 10 minutes away from my hometown.
Betcha didn’t know my middle name (Cho’) was named after a Korean Solider.
Betcha didn’t know that I actually met and took a picture of a real life Russian Communist Solider.
Betcha didn’t know that I have medals from the Army for services before, during and after the Persian Gulf War in a frame Cathy made.
Betcha didn’t know that I took a Falmouth Police Citizen’s Academy course that lasted 10 weeks.
Betcha didn’t know I had a bed wetting problem till I was 12 (shhh on that one)
Betcha didn’t know I am obsessed with Superman (I gave you a freebie)

Well there you go some information you might or might not have known about Lonnie
See you in the funny papers

Boy Meets Girl

Ok today is my wedding anniversary Cathy and I have been married today for 11 years. So I thought it would be neat to relive our history in an “abstract art” form. Oh, before that, if you are wondering what we did today. Well I sent red roses to her office yesterday and today we went out to lunch then to an art museum in Lexington. We are taking Brady and Landon to the Cincinnati Zoo in the morning and little Alexander is spending the day with his Aunt Peggy and cousin Alexis. Ok here we go
Boy Meets Girl

Boy meets girl.
Girls says she is spoken for.
Boy won’t give up.
Girl gives in says yes to a date
Girl leaves work, hits boy’s car
Boy smiles, thinks to himself, going to be a good date
Boy calls girl, MOM answers... Don’t like boy’s name
Boys picks up girl. See daddy, takes out all ear rings
Boy and girl have fun.
Year later Boy and girl fall in love
Girl invites boy to church
Boy goes, girl prays for boy’s salvation
Year later boy and girl get engaged
Girl still prays for boy’s salvation
3 months later God whispers to girl (I gots this)
Boy gets baptized
3 months later boy and girl say “I do”
Couple moves to Ohio
Couple love their first small very small apartment
Boy works at 11 different jobs in 5 years
Girl wants to move back to Kentucky to start a family
Boy and Girl move back no home, no jobs, and no money
Couple prays for a home, couple fine a home
God has plans for couple
God wants boy to be a Youth Minister
Couple prays for a family (God hears)
Couple fall in love and adopted first son
Couple has a second son
Couple has a third son
Boy sees a special doctor.
Family according to God’s timing

End Of An Era

Yesterday was Bracken County High school’s Commencement service for the year of 2007.

Chris Tomlin - Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)

I came across this video while Landon and I were looking at "worship" songs on You Tube..
This song is pretty relaxing.

Most Valuable Player

Monday night was the District Tournament for the Lady Polar Bears of Bracken County. Have to give a “Way to go Lois” to my partner “Lois Lane” for pitching a no-hitter and for being named MVP (Most Valuable Player)!!

All Aboard The Choo - Choo Train

I love these drinks!!!
They are not that powerful. They are not that powerful. I mean I can drink them all day and nothing happens to me. Hi birdie, nice little birdie, I don’t know why people say to slow down on them. What, who said that. I remember one time I drunk them and felt fine. Panama – Panama - all – all – all. So you see, I think sometimes we tend to get a little extreme, I mat as well jump...(jump) go ahead and jump. I think I like the Amp energy drink a little better. But Full Throttle is pretty good too. Welcome back, your dreams made have brought you back. I don’t care too much for Red Bull. Sunday Monday, Happy Days. Tuesday, Wednesday Happy Days.

Well I guess you have to make your own choice. But I still think they had no effect on me.

Senior Night In The Bear Cage

Friday, was “senior night” for a couple of Lady Polar Bears of Bracken County. The fast pitched softball team and boosters honored the two seniors.
It was a pretty awesome event. They had the two players stand in the middle of the infield and the announcer talked about each of their “fast pitched” softball careers.

To hear their stories was quite moving. The best part of it all was when they both received gifts of flowers, bears, balloons and quilts from family and friends to show their appreciation.

I was very proud of one particular bear. Way to go “Lois” on an OUT STANDING high school career.

“Lois” will be having graduation in a few days. So I want to leave my friend and partner in crime this little bit of “wisdom”

Remember who you are.
And what you stand for.

"These Boots Are Made For Walking"

Ok, I may not be no "Jessica Simpson".. But I think I am going to have to buy me some boots so I will be able to walk to the office in "style" if these gas-prices keep going up...

Oh I can go ahead and let the "cat-out-of-the-bag" and fly to work..

Coven - One Tin Soldier

I found this video clip to the song “One Tin Soldier”

What I Know ..I Learned From Mom

Since today is Mother’s day, I thought I would share my Top Ten things I’ve learned from my mom.
“You flash those baby blue eyes and you will be able to get anything you want.”
“Don’t worry about the cars, they will move out your way. The mail boxes wont.”
“Oh honey, your dad is kidding about the “milk-man.”
“Yes dear, it is some times green.”
“If you swallow your bubblegum, your belly button will stick to your nose.”
“Beach ball shape heads on kids means they have bigger hearts.”
“Yes dear, reindeer can fly.”
“It is not a big “dent”, your dad won’t even notice”
“All gasoline smells like diesel.”
“Girls like it when you pass gas; it shows them you are full at dinner time.”

Oh well, I guess you did an ok job mom!

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Dude....No Way

Tonight at our Citizens Police Academy class, we got to meet and listen to the stories of a real life DEA agent. It was pretty awesome to hear the stories. But the funny thing was, and I shared this with the class and the DEA agent, is that when he first walked into the class, to me he looked like a common street punk. I thought he was here to talk about his time in lock-up and how is putting his life back together. And then low and behold they introduced him as a Special Agent undercover for the DEA.

Billy Jack

Lately, I have been lying down with Landon during his bed time until he feels safe and comfortable. (I only fell asleep once, ok maybe twice since we started) then I would get up and finish what needs to be done for the night (usually eating a sandwich) But last night for some reason I was lying there watching him and he was talking to me saying things like “drink daddy” or “daddy poopie diaper” Any way, I got to thinking about when I was his age and maybe a bit older, and how my dad use to love this movie called “Billy Jack”. This morning while driving to the office the theme song from Billy Jack came on the radio, and I started cracking up laughing. Here are the lyrics and for those who don’t know who Bill Jack is, I have the cult classic on DVD!

PS... Any one know the famous line from that movie?

One Tin Soldier (The Legend of Billy Jack)
by Lambert-Potter, sung by Coven

Listen, children, to a storyThat was written long ago,

'Bout a kingdom on a mountainAnd the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasureBuried deep beneath the stone,

And the valley-people sworeThey'd have it for their very own.Go ahead and hate your neighbor,

Go ahead and cheat a friend.

Do it in the name of Heaven,You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowingCome the judgement day,On the bloody morning after....One tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valleySent a message up the hill,

Asking for the buried treasure,Tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom,"With our brothers we will share

All the secrets of our mountain,All the riches buried there.

"Go ahead and hate your neighbor,Go ahead and cheat a friend.Do it in the name of Heaven,You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowingCome the judgement day,On the bloody morning after....One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger,"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!

"And they killed the mountain-people,

So they won their just reward. Now they stood beside the treasure,

On the mountain, dark and red.Turned the stone and looked beneath it...

"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,Go ahead and cheat a friend.Do it in the name of Heaven,You can justify it in the end. There won't be any trumpets blowingCome the judgement day,On the bloody morning after....

One tin soldier rides away..

Lost Moon

I was sitting here feeding Alexander and there wasn’t anything really good on TV, so I decided to put in my DVD of the movie Apollo 13. This movie is based on the book “Lost Moon” by Jim Lovell.
The movie, and book accounts the extraordinary days in space, and the events and situations that the crew, which consist of Jim Lovell, Fred Haze, and Jack Swagger, had to do to get back home safely.
The book and the movie are pretty good.

Round 2

I have started working out again! So the next time I go up against RED – MAN, I will be looking like this!!!!

PS. I am almost there………. a few more sit-ups and low fat yogurt and POW, “Walking Tall Lonnie!”

If Need Be…

I know after my last post, a lot of people might be wondering, “how could a Christian Minister of Children and Families, be so aggressive and violent.” Honestly I am not as violent as the post seemed. I love Jesus with all my heart and I will “turn the other cheek” every chance I get. But I would also like to remind you that we live in an evil world and if I may, like to leave you with this quote.
“A good shepherd will always protect his sheep, and sometimes he might have to fight the wolf!”

Redman

Tonight, I had my Falmouth Police Citizen’s Academy class. Before I get into the story I am about to say, I have to take my hat off to any and all Police Officers. “Hats Off” you guys and gals do amazing work.
Now on to my story, and after you read this you will understand how “pumped and tired” I feel

What happens is that they put an officer in this protective red suit and you as the “acting” officer on duty are put in some scenarios. With that being said, this how my night went down.
Scenario #1
I was called to the house of a gentleman who was 89 years of age and had lost his wife of 50 years and for the past few weeks wasn’t taking care of himself and needed to be taken to the hospital for mental evaluation. Well I had to make some commands in a very loud voice he wouldn’t do what I asked him to do, and then he had a knife. He started talking about wanting to kill himself so I pulled out my night stick and try to talk him down. Just then he started inching towards me. I was yelling at the top of my voice to drop the knife, he wouldn’t then he came after me and I shot him. I tried it again and this time instead of shooting him I wrestled him to the ground and he gave up.

Scenario #2
I was on a routine traffic stop for speeding, and came to fine out that this guy had a warrant out for his arrest. He wouldn’t exit the vehicle so I had to drag him out. Just then he attacked me. I got my night stick out and started beating him but then he got the upper hand and tried to get on top of me. Just then I think something “snapped” I just got mad or something, and rolled him over and finally got him handcuffed and while he was handcuffed, I was still beating him!

The Officers said I did a great job with my voice commands and everything else. Just one little thing. “Lonnie, when you have them in handcuffs, you can’t keep beating them”

I found out one thing; I didn’t realize how much aggression I had stored up (ha-ha)

Over all, it was a pretty intense night.

What Do You Say?

This is so funny…
Yesterday, we had a gentleman stop by our house to estimate how much a new furnace and central air unit would be (we are planning to have it all installed by the end of May) anyway, he was supposed to be at the house at 10am. Well, around 11am he wasn’t there yet. So “mother nature” and the “chili dogs, egg salad, soda pops, couple candy bars, bowl of cereal and a Sunday cone,” started kicking in. I told Cathy I was heading to the rest room to “relax and think about life” anyway as soon as I got my self comfortable, there was a knock at the door. Yep! It was him. Cathy didn’t know what to do or say. She introduced herself and said, “my husband is in the shower.” I heard this and started laughing. How could I been in the shower with out the water running. And what made it worse, sometimes it takes me while to “relax” so I hear them in the basement while they were looking at the old furnace. And I was thinking to myself. He still doesn’t hear any water running. By that time I thought it would be a good time to “flush away my sorrows” and I started to quack up laughing to myself. Cathy said she was so embarrassed when they heard the toilet flush, knowing that she told him I was in the shower minutes before.

River Rats

Just got back from my brother’s we went 4-wheeling!! He took me down by the river and we had an awesome time! It was pretty funny, I thought I would be a “cool-dude” and fly right pass him on the ATV I was driving, so I did and I didn’t know that a few feet in front of me was a pretty steep dip. Man, I hit that bad boy and I thought for sure I was going to flip the 4-wheeler over. After that, I let him take the lead.

Yea, Like That Is Going To Happen….. NOT

I have been getting some “Anonymous” comments on my blogg recently, and it seems this “Anonymous” person wants to know some information. And since I refused to give this “Anonymous” person any information, this “Anonymous person is sort of being rude.

So, “Anonymous” person, I am sorry but a good reporter like me and “Clark Kent” can’t really answer any question you might have about a certain post.

So "Anonymous" I am truly sorry. But please continue to post remarks and if you can, please add your name. If I know you, I will be more then happy to answere any question you may have.

Thanks for the support. and remember

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars!

The Gift Of Flight

I get this question a lot.. “Of all the super-heroes out there, why do you pick Superman?”
So to be honest, there is a lot of reason why I choose Superman. I think the first thing is that he is honest and true to his word, that is something no one can take away from you. But I think the biggest thing he does is that he helps people. The kind of help that requires countless sincere amounts of “thanks you” and yet he doesn’t request it or requires it for his help. Just goes about doing what is right. Like another man I know. Ezra (from the Old Testament) he just did what was right. Didn’t expect a bunch of people saying “thank you.”

Plus I like the “similarities” of Superman and Jesus..(By NO means am I saying that Superman is Jesus) all I am saying is that I think it is pretty cool how they are similar.
For example:
Superman was sent from the “heavens” by his father Jor-El to save a dying planet
Jesus was sent from Heaven by God (his father) to save mankind.

Superman has three forms (or identities) Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman

Jesus has three forms Father / Son / Holy Ghost

El which is Jor – El and Kal – El’s Kroptonian surname is Hebrew for God

Well anyway.. Thought I would clear the air..

BibleMan and Apples

I am sitting here in my office taking a little break. I have my April report done and saved on my hard drive. So come Sunday night I can add what ever happens this weekend to it and then print it out and handed in by Sunday. (Even though the end of the month is Monday, I am off on Mondays)..

I previewed the new “BibleMan” DVD today. This one was pretty good. They had more “bonus” materials this time, like bloopers and music videos. I am still reading the book
“Lights In The Sky & Little Green Men- A Rational Christian Look at UFO’s and Extraterrestrials” it seems really interesting..

But I want to leave you with a cool quote from my good friend (Lois Lane).. I tell you what; this is some good advice if you have any daughters. And even BETTER advice if you have sons (like I do).. Thanks Lois for the words of inspiration..

Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

Midnight Snack

Well it is around 11:30pm and I am trying to stay awake until around 2am so I can feed Alexander. We are transitioning him to a bottle. With that said. I choose to take the early shift and Cathy will sleep from 10 till 4 and then take the early morning shifts.
So I have been keeping busy by eating a delicious stuffed pepper, then I did some Bible study, now I am working on my blogg and listening to some tunes on You Tube.. I just got done hearing and seeing Bon Jovi’s “Living On A Prayer”.. (Man, I loved the 80’s)! I guess when I get done here I will send my homie Lois Lane an email.
(Ohhhhh we’re have way there.. Oh Oh living on a prayer!!) Got a love Bon Jovi!!
He flies in this video…

Whelp I guess I will think of something else to blog about!!

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars

The Family Shower

Our family shower has changed over the years.
Today I went to take a shower.. But first I had to remove
1) a rubber ducky
2) a “Lighting McQueen” car/bubble bath
3) a toy hammer/screw driver
4) a toy Navy sub
5) a infant blue bathtub
6) an inflatable mattress for the infant bathtub
7) a Spiderman action figure
8) a “Carebears” Sunshine bear shampoo bottle

I went looking for my bar of soap (dove, cause I have sensitive skin) but because we have a “pre-teen” boy in our house I had to move his “Axe” brand body wash, But you know what, I kind of like the idea of “family”

A Knight In Shinning Armor (ok.. a black and white tux)

Talking with some of the Senior High students at church I am finding out that this weekend and next and last weekend are and were High School Proms. Bracken County’s Prom is this weekend and Cathy and I were talking about when she and I went to her prom.
Oh the sweet sounds of memories and Garth Brooks, as we danced the night away under the plastic hanging stars of the Spindle Top Plantation in Lexington Ky. Then the romantic moonlit carriage ride through-out the grounds of the aging
settlement, the time of togetherness as two shaking, nervous hands become one.

I am reminded of a quote from a song…
“You’re a princess, chains around you, I’m a hero who just found you”

Then the best part of the night….
Driving to Arby’s for some Cheddar - Roast beef sandwiches!!!
Boy I love Arby’s Roast beef sandwiches.

(You thought I was going to say the “kiss-goodnight”)

Rock And Roll

Why do I have this gentleman up here? He is kind of funny. We should put him as a greeter at our church. And use the tag.. “See you again soon!”

Daddy's Princess

Well, I thought I would go ahead and post this pic of my vision of what could of been the future, if we had a little girl instead of a little boy.

TV Land

Well it is around 11:35 pm, in about 30 minutes; Cathy will be waking up to feed Alexander. I like to stay up with her and keep her company. But I also help out when she goes back to sleep I rock Alexander back to sleep so she can get some rest. (No, I am not trying to toot my own horn-ha ha)
Anyway, while I wait, I thought I would share with you some thoughts for the day.
I like M*A*S*H, it is one of my favorite TV shows. I think I am going to save up some money and buy the series on DVD (hint to anyone who would like to buy them for me)

I think my favorite on the show is Maj. Frank Burns. He is so funny. I remember how Trapper and Hawkeye would tease him and he would say something smart like. “None of your bees whacks!” ha ha loved it.

Well that is all

I think I am going to mow the lawn this weekend if it's not raining.

Secret Societies

What is it about this symbol that drives people curiosities? Why are there so many “conspiracies” and movies surrounding this simple geometric symbol? Could this country really been conceived by great men of this “secret society” How would you approach the man behind this symbol?
In the movie “National Treasure” it suggests that there is a “great and lavish treasure” within the walls of this nation. And that our fore fathers “The Masons” left clues for us to follow. Is this Hollywood recreating history? Or History “creating” Hollywood?

Hero

It is around 12:20am on a Sunday night. I was up with Cathy as she was feeding Alexander. She is back asleep now and I am thinking about some things. As I sit here just thinking. I am brought back to when I took over the Student Ministry at Antioch Mills. That was way back in January of 2001 and now it is April of 2007 and I am the new Minister of Family and Children. It is hard to believe I am working towards my 7th year here at Antioch. I seen a lot of Youth Ministers come and go through out Harrison County and other surrounding counties. I have seen a lot of changes take place and lives changed some for the better and some for the worse. And as I was thinking about all that something popped into my head.
I had a friend of mine stop by today to hang out and see Alexander (I won’t give the name, don’t want to embarrass them) Anyway, this friend of mine and myself were checking out You-Tube and watching some funny things like “Goofy Cheerleaders” and “The Star Wars Kid.” But then something after that caught my attention. My friend showed my their “My-Space” page and as I was reading my friend’s “likes and dislikes,” it came to the part that asked you to “list your heroes” As I was reading how my friend’s heroes were Jesus and their family I noticed that my friend put “Lonnie Love” as their hero.
I was blown away!! I knew me and my pal were friends but I had know idea I was a “hero” in their eyes. That made me feel so special. It is funny, you go through your daily chores of life, trying to make this rock, this spinning sphere of fun and adventure bearable and live a Christ like example and when you least expect it. You become someone’s hero…
Thanks Lois Lane……

I Got Me A Big Bed

Phase one of Landon's big move... After he gets use to and stays in his "big" bed.. We will move him to another bedroom.. and hopefully we will have Brady's new bedroom done..

Not A Coin Or The Rock

Here is another pic of Alexander.. Some friends of mine rather have seen him instead of my coins and The Rock..
Hmmm... He is a cute as his daddy!!!

The Rock Says…..

Well it’s Sunday afternoon. Cathy, Alexander and Landon are napping. Brady is outside playing B-ball with the neighbors and I am doing some laundry. Things are pretty quiet right now so I thought I would take this time to surf the net (You-Tube) and blog. We had some leftover meatloaf for lunch, but I decided to eat some “stuffed-peppers” instead. There isn’t anything good on TV. I hear Cathy stirring around upstairs and so does my dog Ressie-Cup. We don’t have a buzzer on the dryer to let us know when the clothes are done so I have to periodically check on them. I would use the clock to let me know when an hour and ½ is up, but these clothes are already dry, I am just “re-fluffing” them.
So, why the title “The Rock Says?” Well I like the Rock he is one of my favorite movie stars/ex-wrestler. And I have his book, The Rock Says here in front of me on my desk.
Well, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.
“IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK … IS .. COOKING!!!!

Birthday Boy

Well today April 11, 2007 Landon Cho’ Love was born

Roger Alexander Love

Just a few early pics of the little lad.

Behold, The WOMB Was Empty…Easter 2007

Talk about a “Sun-Rise” service. I was awaken today at 3am by what sounded like a cat got caught in the washing machine. Cathy was having some serious contractions. So we headed to Georgetown Hospital. What a scene, we are doing Mach-1 in our mini van and I was busting out the “monster ballads” CD. Nothing says “we are having a baby, like the 80’s big hair band Skid Row’s “Remember Yesterday” and Ratt’s "Rock You Like A Hurricane”
We get to the hospital get her comfortable and around 11am she had Roger Alexander Love. He weighs 7.1 pounds and is 19 inches long.
Both mom and baby and doing fine.
After time with Brady and Landon over dinner with just daddy, we headed to see their new little brother. They are excited!
Can’t wait to bring him and her home.
