Europe's Rose
She said that she was going to miss us and our country very much. She said that the people of Antioch really made an impression on her.
But I think it is the other way around. I believe that she has left an impression on us; by the way she attended church faithfully on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, and Wednesday nights. She is such an intelligent and respectable young lady and I am going to miss her very much. As I sit here typing this blog out, I can’t help but think of my friend from the Czeck Republic and how through God’s remarkable plan gave me a chance to meet Europe’s Rose.

I Will Be Still- And Know You Are God
I was reading and reading- and researching and gathering facts and listening to Atheists talk about science and cosmos and everything that I needed to hear and or read for my friend.
But after all that, I was brought back to just one thought. “Be still and know that I am God.”
So that is the lesson for today, just as it was for Elijah.
“After the earthquake came a fire, but he Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.”
I will be still and know you are God; I will look for you in the breeze, not the wind. Thus end the lesson.

A Friend
When I got home I grab me a snack, a healthy snack of grapes and cheese (ok I did have a snack pack, well actually 2 of them) but I still ate my grapes and cheese. Anyway, Landon was in bed and Cathy was talking to her mom (Darlene Winkle) and Brady was in the shower. So I decided to watch my DVD of the original Superman [with Christopher Reeve] anyway, they had some great lines in it. There are lines that Jor-El says that are cool but I will save that for another blog. The line that got me was this.
When Superman did a good deed for Lois Lane, she asked, “Who are you”? The reply that Superman gave was a simple one, he said “A friend”.
How many times do we ever do something for some stranger and instead of giving them our name and expect something in return we just say, “A friend”. One of my favorite Bible verses is from John 15:13 “No greater love is this, that he lay his life down for his friend”.
Wow, isn’t that powerful stuff! Like the song says “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”. What it would be like to live in a world where, when you did a good deed all you said when someone asked “Why you doing this” and you reply “Cause there is no greater love then this, when a person lays his life down for a friend.”

"I Am Not a Doctor, But I Play One On TV"
Brady has the workings of an “inner-ear” infection so he is on antibiotics and Landon has a cough do to either drainage or a “night time cough”. So that is how I spent my morning. But it is all good. Both the boys did a great job while there so we went to Gold Star Chili for lunch then to Wal-Mart. Now I am home bloging this and soon around 5:30 I will be playing Santa Claus at Cedar Ridge Nursing home for a friend who asked me if I could help them out. I said “Ho-Ho –Ho No problem”

Brady’s Clarinet
I must say I am very proud of how well he has gotten, he is really enjoying the clarinet. In fact he likes music so much now we are signing him up for piano lessons this winter.
So what happened to that blue guitar? Landon gets it out and calls it a “yummy-yummy”.
Why? Because his favorite “Wiggle” plays the guitar and sings “Yummy, Yummy fruit salad”

“Daddy… Peeee”
Yesterday Landon and I decided to help Cathy out, and go to the grocery and Wal-Mart so she wouldn’t have to worry about it today.
We were in the baby aisle looking at items we might need for baby (Alexander? that is still up in the air). When Landon seen this Leap Frog interactive doll, you push his belly and it says the ABC’s (the doll not Landon) anyway, I gave it to Landon to distract him while I continue to shop. Well we were ready to check out when I took the doll from him, he looked at me with his big blue eyes and said “daddy, peeeee”
So of course, he got it.
PS. When I got home and told the story to Brady and Cathy, Brady looked at me with his hand out and said “daddy peee”

Christmas Around The World
The kids did an amazing job, I am proud of each and every one of them. Also a couple of “shout outs” to those behind the scenes that make a “children’s minister” look like he knows what he is doing!
Becky – awesome job as usual, way to be there for our ministry!
Teresa – thank you for jumping in and making the toddlers feel a part of it!
Big Kev – sorry about the finger, way to take one for the team!
And of course to the kids and families for the support they showed tonight.
Oh, guess what? I have a camp meeting in a couple of weeks! Yea summer is just around the corner!
Have a great week; I am off like a dirty shirt!

Landon’s Smile
Anyway after my Parenting Class today, I thought it would be an awesome idea to bring the playground set inside so Landon can still play on it and slide [because it has been so cold out]. So Brady and I decided take it apart and put it back together in the “living room” part of the basement. Whoa, let me tell you, this was the hardest thing to take apart. And one part got caught between the wall and stairs going to the basement. So I had to take apart every shelf going down the stairs for it to fit. Well, needless to say we got it down and back together and Landon hasn’t stopped smiling and sliding. I have another idea about a swing attached to the ceiling beam…..(yea, Cathy said the same thing!)

“Look, up in the sky”
Finally, Cathy and the rest gave me some of the best advice. She said to “turn it over to God”. So that is what I did, and I am doing from now on. I am starting to realize that even though I am a huge Superman fan, I am not him. I am just a vessel for God to use to some how encourage children and parents to “look up in the sky” for answers.

Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Well I finally made it to the 21st Century. That is right I got “high speed” internet. I am so excited. Now I can add all kinds of things to my blog!!
Today was kind of funny, Kevin and I went to Wal-Mart to get some items for our children’s Christmas musical “Christmas around the World” (which is this Sunday at 6:00 pm at Antioch Mills Christian Church – http://www.antiochmills.org/), anyway there was a gentleman in the line in front of us, and he was dressed in his best “James Bond”, from his custom made “golfer cap” to his long “London Fog” trench coat. But what caught the eye of my “partner in crime” (Kev) was that this guy was slobbering on an “unlit” stogie, (a cigar for your “non smokers”)
Anyway, he was becoming inpatient with the cashier and he took his stogie out of his mouth to complain easier and when he put the stogie back in his mouth he put the wrong end of the stogie in his mouth. He started to choke and gag and proceeded to spit on the floor. I looked over at Kev and we both just busted out laughing.
